Hood Workshop

While studying at Politecnico di Milano, the accessory design course required a final project consisting of a hat and two other products. For this, I designed and prototyped a hood. The brief, "Second Chance, First Choice," inspired me to repurpose old jackets and jumpers to create a functional and warm hood.

Mood
For the "Second Chance, First Choice" brief, focused on reuse, the moodboard blends sharp, angular shapes with soft, rounded edges, capturing a balance between tension and flow. The muted color palette is lifted by the vibrant emerald green, symbolizing renewal and transformation.
Initial Ideation
These are my original sketches for the hat design workshop. I drew inspiration from various historical designs and traditions, which I explored through research and by identifying elements that caught my interest.

Concepts
These final ideas, selected from my initial sketches, reflect the concepts I found most compelling and worth developing further, influenced by a variety of sources from my research.
Inspiration
This is my final design inspiration concept, which inspired the shape of the product. It showcases a chainmail hood, created as my 'archive' piece, with a distinctive lattice design at the center.

Technical Drawing
This is the technical drawing for the hood, including detailed measurements and the layout of the pattern for construction.
Colour Option
This showcases the color options I considered for the design, selected for both aesthetic appeal and suitability. The product was intended to be made from repurposed materials, including old jackets, knits, and wool jumpers.
